Meet Angie! Angie recently celebrated her four year anniversary with Goodwill Columbus and works as a Recruiting Coordinator in our Human Resources department.

Angie’s Goodwill roots run deep, “I was involved with the TANF program and assigned a Career Counselor through our Workforce Development program,” said Angie.

Prior to her role as a Recruiting Counselor, Angie held the position of Field Benefit Specialist. “I started as a Recruiting Assistant and then became the Recruiting Coordinator. When a position in the LOA department opened up, I applied but didn’t get the position. But then they created the Field Specialist position so I could help our employees and their families better understand our insurance,” explained Angie.

Back in her current role as a Recruiting Coordinator, Angie is the person our candidates (future employees) see after they have been offered a position. In addition to conducting our New Hire Orientation, Angie performs all background checks, drug tests, collects all documents needed, and signs candidates up for Med Admin or CPR if needed.

When asked what’s her favorite part about her role, Angie said, “The fact that I get to interact with our candidates and just seeing the smiles on their faces when they leave. I also appreciate that I set a good example to where they will call me when they need an answer or help with something. Even if it’s something that I may not do, they know I will figure it out for them and point them in the right direction.”

Angie is looking forward to growing in her position and with Goodwill in the years to come.

“I always say this, but thank you to Carolyn Newcomb in Workforce Development who believed I would fit the role as a Recruiting Assistant and helped with the opportunity to apply. I am grateful for the managers that I have had to trust me to do the job and also allow me to cross train in other positions.”

Amazing work, Angie!
