Meet Andrea! Andrea recently joined our Accounting department as a Payroll Specialist, but has been with Goodwill Columbus for 4 years!
“I was drawn to Goodwill Columbus because of its mission to help individuals with disabilities find meaningful employment and become more independent. I wanted to be part of an organization where the work I do can have a positive impact on people’s lives,” explained Andrea.
When she first arrived at Goodwill, Andrea worked as a Recruiter, where she had the opportunity to connect individuals with employment opportunities.
“When the Payroll Specialist position became available, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. Moving from recruiting into payroll was a big change, but I applied for the position because I wanted to challenge myself, learn a new area of the organization, and continue growing professionally,” said Andrea.
As a Payroll Specialist, Andrea is responsible for helping ensure our employees are paid accurately and on time.
“I work with payroll information, make sure employee records are accurate, and help resolve payroll-related questions or issues. Payroll requires a lot of attention to detail, accountability, and confidentiality because I understand how important someone’s paycheck is to them,” explained Andrea.
One of Andrea’s favorite parts about her new role is learning the ins and outs of payroll, in addition to working with her coworkers!
“One of the things I appreciate most about Goodwill Columbus is that the people I work with make you feel like family. That sense of teamwork and support makes coming to work meaningful,” said Andrea.
As she looks ahead, Andrea is excited to become even more knowledgeable about payroll, taking on new challenges, and continuing to develop professionally.
“I’m excited about this new chapter in my career and seeing where it takes me within Goodwill Columbus. Most importantly, I want to continue doing work that reflects the values of Goodwill Columbus and makes a positive impact.”
