At Goodwill, true community integration means stepping back and letting the individuals we serve take the wheel. When Natasha (pictured first), a participant in our Adult Day Services (ADS) program, approached the team with the idea for a group outing, Goodwill provided funding from a community grant—but the rest of the magic belonged entirely to her.
Instead of planning the event for her, ADS staff encouraged Natasha to take charge. Working alongside her support staff, Val, Natasha dove headfirst into the logistics. She explored different local venues, researched pricing packages, checked availability, and made the final reservations. Turning her vision into reality, she even created event flyers and managed the entire guest list, inviting friends both within and outside of the Goodwill community to join her for an afternoon at the roller rink.
This field trip represents a massive milestone in Natasha’s journey toward personal independence. We look forward to supporting Natasha as she continues to plan future engagements!
